Rules
Points Over Projection (POP) is a DFS-style fantasy football game where you compete to beat expert projections. Draft a lineup under the salary cap, and your score is how much your players outperform those projections.
How It Works
- Pick a contest slate. Each contest has its own start/end, salary cap, and eligible player pool.
- Build your lineup under the cap. Follow the roster rules (e.g., 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 DEF).
- Lock at contest start. Lineups lock when the slate begins. Late-swap is disabled unless the contest explicitly allows it.
- Score POP. After games finish, your lineup’s score is calculated as Points Over Projection.
Scoring
We use standard fantasy points (PPR by default with common yardage bonuses), then compute POP as follows:
For each player: FantasyPoints = sum(stat_i * weight_i) + bonuses POP_Player = FantasyPoints - Projection For your lineup: POP_Lineup = Σ POP_Player across all roster slots
Notes: Scoring weights and bonuses can vary by contest (see each contest’s rules). POP is always calculated against that contest’s projection snapshot.
Projections
Player projections used for POP come directly from ESPN. Each contest stores a snapshot of ESPN projections at contest lock to ensure fair comparison for all entrants. If ESPN updates projections after lock, your contest still uses the locked snapshot for scoring.
